William McClain, a 50-year-old Black male, was the victim of a Philadelphia homicide that began as a shooting on the night of Monday, August 12, 2013. At about 8:52 p.m., Philadelphia police officers were called to the 5500 block of Chew Avenue, where they found him inside a gray 2010 Chevy Impala. The car had crashed into a traffic light pole, and the engine was still running when officers arrived.
McClain was in the driver’s seat, slumped over the center console, suffering from a
gunshot wound. He was rushed to Albert Einstein Medical Center and admitted in critical condition. Although he survived the initial shooting, the injury remained grave, and he died from the gunshot wound on Sunday, August 17, 2014, just over a year after he was shot.
Police identified McClain as a resident of Snowflower Lane in Willingboro, New Jersey.
