On October 5, 2014, Derrol Smith, a 26-year-old resident of Philadelphia, was fatally shot on the 5200 block of Delancey Street. The incident occurred around 12:09 a.m., when Philadelphia Police Officers responded to a report of multiple gunshot victims. Derrol Smith was found with a gunshot wound to his stomach and was rushed by police to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, where he succumbed to his injuries later that morning.
