On January 20, 2015, Thomas McClellan, a 53-year-old resident of East Liberty, Pittsburgh, was shot and killed in Homewood, a neighborhood that had been struggling with persistent violence. McClellan was fatally shot multiple times in the face and body outside Shuman Market near Frankstown and North Homewood avenues just before noon.
