Manuel Andrade, a 36-year-old Hispanic male, was fatally shot on the evening of Friday, October 2, 2015, in North Philadelphia. The incident occurred just before 7:15 p.m. on the 2100 block of West Master Street, only a block away from his home. Andrade was returning from his job as a deliveryman at Flowers & Company in Center City when he was confronted by assailants in what police described as an attempted robbery.
During the confrontation, Andrade was shot in the abdomen.
He was found wounded inside the doorway of a residence on the block. Emergency services transported him to Hahnemann University Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at 11:47 p.m. that night.
Andrade was a father to two young girls and had recently gotten married. Those who knew him described him as a selfless, kind, humble, and hardworking individual. His employer, the owner of Flowers & Company, spoke highly of him and initiated a GoFundMe campaign to assist his family with funeral costs. His colleagues recalled him expressing his excitement about taking his children trick-or-treating for Halloween that year.
Philadelphia police began an investigation into the homicide, seeking two suspects in connection with the armed robbery and shooting. However, in the years following the incident, there have been no public announcements regarding any arrests or the identification of any suspects. The case is listed among Philadelphia's unsolved murders from 2015, and the perpetrators responsible for Manuel Andrade's death remain at large.
