The incident occurred around 7:32 p.m. when Philadelphia Police responded to a report of a shooting on the 2000 block of Diamond Street. Upon arriving, officers found two vehicles involved in a crash. Derrick Stallworth, the driver of one of the vehicles, had sustained multiple gunshot wounds on his left side and was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after
at 7:44 p.m. Investigators believe the gunshots caused him to lose control of the vehicle, resulting in the crash. The case remains unsolved, and police have appealed for information from the public regarding this homicide to help bring closure to his grieving family.

His mother, Cecilia Stallworth, reminisced how her son’s lighthearted spirit often helped the family overcome difficult times. Derrick was the second oldest of six siblings, and his connection with his family was one of his most defining features.
Derrick was also a devoted father to his 11-year-old daughter, Taniya. He enjoyed spending time with her, often taking her to places like carnivals and the zoo, and was dedicated to providing for her happiness. Even though he was no longer together with Taniya's mother, Derrick made sure they had a stable environment to live in, showing his commitment to their well-being. His mother remembered him as someone who would always come through for family members in need, bringing joy and comfort to anyone struggling.
