In the late afternoon of Saturday, October 22, 2016, a police officer in Philadelphia was called to the 2800 block of North 22nd Street. Inside the Burger Lane restaurant, a 23-year-old employee named Aaron Jones was found on the kitchen floor next to the grill, suffering from a gunshot wound to his back. The officer rushed Jones to Temple University Hospital in his patrol vehicle, but he was pronounced dead at 1:42 p.m.
Jones was a Black male who resided on the 3100 block of North Rosewood Street.
A second victim, a 16-year-old boy who also worked at the restaurant, was wounded in the shooting. He was taken to the same hospital by a private vehicle with a gunshot wound to his right leg and was listed in stable condition.
The circumstances surrounding the shooting have not been publicly detailed, and the investigation remains ongoing. The Philadelphia Police Department continues to seek information from the public regarding this unsolved homicide and encourages anyone with knowledge of the case to come forward.
