On August 6, 1980, 22-year-old Jeffrey Bartow was murdered in his apartment on NE 45th Avenue in Portland, Oregon. At approximately 3:40 p.m., Bartow answered a knock at his door, only to be confronted by two armed men who forced their way into the apartment. The intruders demanded drugs and money, ordering Bartow and his two associates to the floor. In the ensuing chaos, Bartow attempted to resist, leading to a physical altercation.
