In the early morning hours of June 14, 1997, the life of 16-year-old Jamil Edward Myrick, an African-American male, was tragically cut short by gun violence in Portland, Oregon. At approximately 1:42 a.m., police responded to reports of a shooting at the intersection of NE Alberta Street and NE 23rd Avenue. Upon their arrival, they discovered Jamil deceased from an apparent gunshot wound.
