Gertrude Blakey, a 73-year-old resident of Tulsa, Oklahoma, was assaulted inside her home on October 13, 1981. She lived at 1843 E. 31st Place in a well-to-do neighborhood. The attack occurred in the early evening, and there were no signs of forced entry or robbery, raising suspicions that she may have known her assailant. After being discovered badly beaten, Blakey was rushed to the hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries on October 21, 1981, as a result of blunt force trauma.
