On the night of November 28, 1998, Robert E. Hunter, a White man from Tulsa, Oklahoma, was at a residence at 1121 East 8th Street in the city, spending time with two other men. What began as an ordinary late-November evening in a modest Tulsa neighborhood turned suddenly violent. At some point during those hours inside the home, the two men turned on him.
