On November 23, 2007, 20-year-old Lauren Barnes was murdered by Eric Phan, the father of her unborn child, in Bethany, Oklahoma. Lauren, who was five months pregnant, had gone to meet Phan to discuss the pregnancy, but she was never seen alive again. Her family reported her missing the next day, and a search ensued. Her body was discovered a week later, on November 30, 2007, buried in a shallow grave in the Stinchcomb Wildlife Refuge in northwest Oklahoma City.
