In the spring of 2010, a young Black man named Travion Byrd, aged 22, lost his life in a violent encounter in midtown Tulsa, Oklahoma. On the evening of May 18th, Byrd was at a convenience store, Moe's Grill, located at 5th and Lewis Avenue, when a confrontation turned deadly. He was fatally shot in the chest and was pronounced dead at the scene.
