In a tragic turn of events on August 10, 2016, 22-year-old Reynold Ranard Walker was fatally shot in his Oklahoma City home. The incident unfolded at approximately 11:55 p.m. in the 2000 block of Northeast 29th Street, near Martin Luther King Avenue. Walker was inside the residence when two individuals knocked on the door. After he answered, the suspects entered the home, located Walker, and shot him.
Emergency services transported Walker to a local hospital, but he ultimately succumbed
to his injuries. The Oklahoma City Police Department launched a homicide investigation, which marked the city's 45th of the year. Investigators believed that the attack was not random and that Walker was specifically targeted, though a clear motive was not immediately released to the public.
The investigation led to the apprehension of two suspects. The first, a 17-year-old, was arrested on August 23, 2016. Soon after, a second suspect, identified as Nicholas Williams, was also taken into custody. Both individuals faced charges of first-degree murder and robbery with a firearm in connection with Walker's death. A second man, Michael Timmons, was also arrested and faced similar charges. The arrests brought a measure of progress in a case that highlighted the persistent issue of gun violence within the community.
