On June 21, 2013, Demetreous Michael Beard, a 19-year-old male, was shot and killed in Columbus, Ohio. The incident took place in the 600 block of Lance Court at approximately 11:25 PM. When police responded to the scene, they found Beard lying in front of a residence. He had sustained multiple gunshot wounds, and was pronounced dead shortly after.
The Columbus Police Department initiated an investigation into the homicide, but no suspects have been identified to date.
Demetreous, fondly known by family and friends as 'Meechie' or 'Pookie,' had recently enrolled in Columbus State Community College, where he was focused on furthering his education. He was described by loved ones as an athletic young man with a bright smile and a promising future ahead of him. His sudden death left his community and family in deep shock and grief.
