Summary based on 6 sources
A night in late October was shattered by gunfire near the intersection of Sutro and East 6th streets in Reno, Nevada, leading to the death of Robert W. Graf, a 27-year-old man. The shooting, which happened on Saturday, October 24, 2026, prompted an immediate and heavy police response that would culminate in a dramatic standoff and arrest days later. Little is publicly known about Robert’s life, his family, or the path that led him to that street on that particular evening. His death, however, is documented as a homicide, leaving questions for a community and a case for the justice system to resolve.

The incident began around 9:30 p.m. when the Reno Police Department received multiple reports of shots fired in the area. Officers, joined by Washoe County Sheriff's deputies, arrived to find a chaotic scene. They discovered Robert Graf suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Paramedics rushed him to the nearby Renown Regional Medical Center for emergency treatment. Despite the efforts of medical staff, he was pronounced dead shortly after his arrival. The Washoe County Regional Medical Examiner's Office later confirmed his identity and determined his cause of death was multiple gunshot wounds, officially ruling it a homicide.

The investigation into Robert’s murder was handled by the Reno Police Department’s Robbery/Homicide Unit. For three days, detectives worked the case, which led them to identify a suspect. On the evening of Tuesday, October 27, investigators located 44-year-old Edgar Campos-Garcia in the vicinity of 865 South Rock Boulevard. When detectives attempted to stop him, Campos-Garcia refused to comply and fled in his vehicle, initiating a police pursuit. He was reportedly armed with a handgun during the chase.

The pursuit ended when detectives managed to block Campos-Garcia’s vehicle in the area of 655 East Nugget Avenue. Still, the situation remained tense. Campos-Garcia refused to exit his car, leading to a standoff with law enforcement. A detective from the Robbery/Homicide Unit engaged him in negotiations. For approximately 30 minutes, they communicated with the armed man, working to de-escalate the volatile situation. Ultimately, their efforts were successful, and Campos-Garcia surrendered peacefully to the officers on the scene.

Following his surrender, Edgar Campos-Garcia was arrested and booked into the Washoe County Detention Facility. He faced a series of serious charges, including open murder in connection with Robert Graf's death. Additional charges included obstructing and resisting a public officer with a deadly weapon, felony eluding, and a misdemeanor charge for operating a motor vehicle with an expired registration. At the time of his arrest, police stated that the investigation was still ongoing.

As of late October 2026, the case against Edgar Campos-Garcia was proceeding through the legal system. He is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law. Authorities have not released any information regarding a possible motive for the shooting or what might have transpired in the moments leading up to the gunfire that ended Robert Graf's life. The investigation remains in the hands of the Reno Police Department.

No public vigils or memorials have been announced for Robert Graf. The police have encouraged anyone with information about the shooting to come forward. Tips can be directed to the Reno Police Department at (775) 334-2677 or to Secret Witness at (775) 322-4900.
