On January 17, 2017, police officers in Columbus, Ohio, were dispatched to South Wheatland Avenue after receiving reports of a woman being assaulted in the street. Upon arrival, they were initially unable to locate the victim, who had apparently walked away from the scene. Approximately 20 minutes later, officers were called again to a nearby location on the report of an unresponsive female, believed to be the same person from the earlier call.
The victim, identified as 29-year-old Sandy Roth, was found unresponsive and was taken to Mt. Carmel West Hospital by emergency responders.
Sandy Roth was stabilized at the hospital, but unfortunately, she never regained consciousness. On March 19, 2017, at 2:45 a.m., she succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased by the attending physician. Her death was subsequently classified as a homicide by the Columbus Police Department. Despite the circumstances surrounding the assault and her death, no suspects have been publicly identified, and the case remains unsolved.
The Ohio Attorney General’s Office has included Sandy Roth’s case among their list of unsolved homicides in an effort to generate new leads and seek justice for Sandy and her loved ones. Authorities continue to encourage anyone with additional information to come forward, as even the smallest detail might be helpful in solving the case.
