On May 21, 1978, 51-year-old white female Martha Mae King Martin and her husband, 47-year-old Jerry Martin, were found fatally shot at their home on Morse Road in Columbus, Ohio. The couple had been attacked through a window screen, and the assailants stole valuables from the residence. Ballistic analysis revealed that the same. 22 caliber pistol used in this crime had been employed in a series of other murders, indicating a pattern linked to the so-called '.22 Caliber Killers.'
