Veronica A. Miller, a 33-year-old Cleveland native, was remembered as a devoted fiancée, mother, daughter, and sister who left behind a legacy of love. Born in Cleveland on November 1, 1992, Veronica was a cherished part of a large, close-knit family. She was the beloved fiancée of Antonito Bradley, II, and the loving mother of their two young children, Antonito Bradley, III and Lyla Marie Bradley.
Her family remembered her as someone who would be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. She was a dear sister to fifteen siblings and a loving aunt to dozens of nieces and nephews who were a significant part of her life.
The morning of Tuesday, September 29, 2026, turned tragic in the Stockyards neighborhood on Cleveland’s West Side. Around 10 a.m., an argument reportedly broke out between a man and his neighbor in the 3100 block of W. 61st Street. According to Cleveland police, the dispute was over the men’s dogs and quickly escalated into a physical altercation. During the fight, one of the men, identified as Antoine Cummings, allegedly fired a gun. He would later tell authorities that he had intended to fire a "warning shot."
That single bullet struck Veronica. She was not involved in the altercation, but was hit by the shot that was fired. Emergency services were called to the scene immediately. Cleveland EMS personnel worked to save her, rushing her to the nearby MetroHealth Medical Center for emergency treatment. Despite their efforts, her injuries were too severe, and she was pronounced dead at the hospital.
When officers from the Cleveland Division of Police arrived on W. 61st Street, the suspect had not fled. Antoine Cummings remained at the scene of the shooting and was taken into custody by the responding officers. A firearm was also recovered at the location. The investigation was handed over to the department’s homicide detectives to piece together the events that led to the fatal shooting.
In the weeks that followed, the case moved forward in the legal system. On October 12, 2026, a Cuyahoga County Grand Jury returned an indictment against Antoine Cummings. He was formally charged with murder, felonious assault, and reckless homicide in connection with Veronica Miller’s death. Following the indictment, he was held at the Cuyahoga County Justice Center on a $500,000 bond while awaiting further court proceedings.
As the legal process began, Veronica’s heartbroken family and friends gathered to say their final goodbyes. A visitation was held on the morning of Friday, October 16, 2026, at the Slone & Co. Life Celebration Center in Cleveland. It was followed by a homegoing service at the same location, where those who knew and loved her shared their memories and grief. Her obituary stated that her legacy of love "will forever remain in the hearts of her family and all who had the privilege of knowing her." As of October 2026, the criminal case against Antoine Cummings was proceeding through the Cuyahoga County court system.
