In the early morning hours of September 5, 2026, the life of 37-year-old Jaime Adolfo Rodriguez was violently cut short in a harrowing ordeal that began on the West Side of San Antonio. His body was discovered the following day, abandoned off a private road near Calaveras Lake, showing signs of decomposition. An autopsy would later reveal the brutal extent of his final moments: a fatal gunshot wound to the chest, lacerations to his head and face, and several broken ribs. The Bexar County Medical Examiner officially ruled his death a homicide, launching an intensive investigation into the circumstances that led to his demise. Investigators believed from the outset that Rodriguez had been killed elsewhere and his body dumped in the remote location where it was found.

The breakthrough in the case came as detectives meticulously pieced together Rodriguez's last known movements, utilizing witness interviews, security footage, and location data from a rented Honda he had been driving. The trail led them to a home on Rivas Street, where surveillance video captured the terrifying abduction. The footage showed Rodriguez arriving at the residence around 1:10 a.m., only to be seen moments later running for his life in just a T-shirt and underwear, pursued by armed men. He was caught, beaten, and forced into a white SUV, which then sped away. A woman was seen getting into Rodriguez's rental car and following the SUV. A possible motive emerged through an anonymous tip, suggesting Rodriguez was targeted after allegedly stealing $7,000 from an incarcerated woman. This was corroborated in part by Rodriguez's family, who told investigators he had given them a total of $800 just days before his death, cryptically telling a sibling "Don't ask" when questioned about the source of the money.

The investigation led to the arrests of two individuals. The first was 39-year-old Francisco Garza, who was initially charged with failing to report a felony involving serious bodily injury or death. Garza told investigators he had been forced by the armed men to lure Rodriguez to the Rivas Street home under the pretext of a drug deal. He claimed he didn't report the violent abduction out of fear and because he didn't believe Rodriguez would be killed. However, an updated affidavit revealed security footage allegedly showed Francisco Garza himself kicking Rodriguez during the assault. Subsequently, 40-year-old Amanda Garza was arrested and charged with the more serious offense of aggravated kidnapping with a deadly weapon, a first-degree felony. Investigators connected her to the crime through surveillance footage from her own home that showed her wearing clothing similar to the woman seen at the abduction site and revealed she had been with Rodriguez before his disappearance, planning a drug transaction that fell through. This complex case, marked by a brutal kidnapping and murder, appears to be rooted in a dispute over money, leading to a calculated and violent end for Jaime Adolfo Rodriguez.
