A couple is murdered during a robbery
On April 23, 2001, Shaoxiong He, along with his wife May He, was murdered during an apparent robbery at their family-owned restaurant, The Asian Garden, located at 8015 Bandera Road in San Antonio, Texas. The couple’s young daughter was present at the scene and witnessed the brutal attack. The incident occurred when an unknown male entered the restaurant in what appeared to be a robbery attempt. May He was working at the cash register when the suspect attacked, stabbing her fatally. Shaoxiong He rushed to her aid but was also stabbed by the intruder. May passed away at the scene, while Shaoxiong succumbed to his injuries after being transported to University Hospital.

The suspect took money from the cash register and fled the scene. Despite numerous efforts by the San Antonio Police Department to track down the perpetrator, no suspects have been identified, and the case remains unsolved. The double murder left the couple’s children, who were only six years, three years, and six months old at the time, without their parents. They have since been taken in by relatives residing in San Antonio. The San Antonio community rallied to support the children, with local businesses and organizations extending their assistance during this difficult time.

The case is still classified as an unsolved cold case by the San Antonio Police Department, and law enforcement officials continue to seek any information that could lead to identifying and apprehending the person responsible for this tragic incident. The authorities have urged anyone with information to come forward to help bring justice to the He family and provide closure for their young children.
