William Luther Leapart, a 19-year-old man, was shot and killed on the night of August 13, 2026, in Compton, California. Leapart, who had grown up in Compton before transferring to Tustin High School, had returned to the area to spend time with his girlfriend, according to his father. The evening ended violently shortly before 10 p.m. in the 14000 block of South Stanford Avenue near Santa Rita Street and Roy Campanella Park.
