In the early moments of Tuesday, August 18, 2026, the quiet of a Homestead, Florida neighborhood was broken by the sound of gunfire. Just after midnight, technology designed to detect gunshots alerted the Homestead Police Department to the incident near the intersection of Southwest 6th Avenue and 7th Street.
