On a late Wednesday afternoon in Chicago, the life of 26-year-old Quincy Lamont Faulkner, a Black male, was abruptly ended in a brazen daylight ambush. The incident occurred at approximately 3:51 p.m. on August 19, 2026, in the McKinley Park neighborhood. Faulkner and another man, 56-year-old Calvin Hunt, were seated inside a Ford Transit van in the 3800 block of South Western Boulevard when a Honda pulled up alongside them.
Multiple masked individuals, all reportedly dressed in black, exited their vehicle and unleashed a torrent of gunfire into the van.
The assailants were armed with at least one handgun and what witnesses described as a Draco-style weapon, firing dozens of rounds in a coordinated and merciless attack. The sheer volume of gunfire left both occupants of the van with devastating injuries. After the shooting, the attackers quickly got back into their Honda and fled the scene, heading westbound. Emergency services rushed to the location, and both victims were transported to Mount Sinai Hospital. Faulkner, having sustained multiple gunshot wounds throughout his body, was in critical condition and was pronounced dead shortly after arriving at the hospital. Hunt was also seriously wounded in the assault.
