In the early morning hours of July 5, 2026, the life of 19-year-old Phillip Devon Monte Sheppard Jr. was cut short in a burst of gunfire that erupted in downtown Pensacola, Florida. The shooting, which also left six other individuals wounded, occurred around 1:20 a.m. in the 200 block of South Palafox Street during a large Fourth of July gathering.
