George Carter, a 59-year-old pawn shop owner from Pensacola, Florida, was tragically murdered on January 23, 1991. The incident occurred during a robbery at his pawn shop, where he was fatally shot by Antonio Melton. Melton, who was 18 years old at the time, was later arrested and charged with first-degree felony murder and armed robbery. The prosecution's case was significantly bolstered by the testimony of Melton's co-defendant, Ben Lewis, who provided crucial evidence against him.
