In the early morning hours of June 7, 2026, the city of Sanford, Florida, was disturbed by gunfire that would ultimately claim the life of 32-year-old Deion Fields. Police were first called to the area of Historic Goldsboro Boulevard and Mangoustine Avenue around 3:20 a.m. for a reported shooting. While responding to that scene, another 911 call directed them to a second shooting just blocks away at Historic Goldsboro Boulevard and Pomegranate Avenue. There, officers discovered Deion Fields, who had sustained fatal gunshot wounds.
The investigation into the shooting unfolded quickly. Initially, police located a person of interest in the vicinity who was found with a firearm. This individual was taken to a local hospital for mental health concerns. However, further investigation by the Sanford Police Department led them to another man. Investigators determined that Deion Fields and a man named Undray Allen, who were well-acquainted, had been inside a vehicle together. A verbal altercation erupted between the two, which tragically escalated when Allen allegedly shot and killed Fields.
Within days of the shooting, on June 12, 2026, the Sanford Police Department announced the arrest of 34-year-old Undray Allen in connection with Deion Fields' death. Allen was subsequently charged with second-degree homicide, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and resisting arrest without violence. He was then transported to the Seminole County Jail. Despite the swift arrest, law enforcement officials have expressed that the investigation is still ongoing. They believe there may have been several witnesses to the incident who have not yet come forward with information.
