On January 31, 2025, shortly after midnight, authorities in Sanford, Florida, responded to a shooting incident at an apartment complex on Wyndham Crest Boulevard. Upon arrival, officers discovered 31-year-old Brandon Michael Sullivan lying in the third-floor hallway with a gunshot wound to the abdomen. Sullivan, a Caucasian male, was transported to a local hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
Investigators identified the suspect as 34-year-old Sara Elizabeth Jameson, who was in
an on-and-off romantic relationship with Sullivan. The two shared a child together. According to reports, the pair had been drinking at Jameson's apartment before leaving and later returning to the complex. An argument ensued inside Sullivan's vehicle, during which Jameson claimed that Sullivan became violent. She alleged that he chased her up the stairs, though she could not recall the exact sequence of events leading to the shooting.
Jameson admitted to carrying a firearm during the altercation but stated she could not remember when she drew the weapon or where she fired the shot that struck Sullivan. When questioned about her motive, she told investigators that Sullivan had physically abused her multiple times in the past and that she feared he would do so again. However, discrepancies arose in her statements, as surveillance footage from a neighbor’s doorbell camera did not support her claim that Sullivan chased her up the stairs. The footage showed Sullivan striking Jameson in the face, after which she pointed to the camera and warned him that he was being recorded.
At approximately 12:16 a.m., Jameson was seen on video calling 911 before approaching Sullivan and pleading for him to wake up. Authorities arrived at the scene minutes later. Following their investigation, police arrested Jameson on February 4, 2025, charging her with second-degree homicide. She was booked into the John E. Polk Correctional Facility, where she remains in custody. Law enforcement officials have urged anyone with additional information about the case to come forward.
