On January 13, 2017, 52-year-old Thomas Louis Beatty Jr. was shot and killed in northwest Charlotte, North Carolina. Authorities responded to a call around 4:30 p.m. and found Beatty lying in a yard on Morning Breeze Lane, suffering from a gunshot wound. He was rushed to the hospital, but despite efforts to save him, he was pronounced dead.
