In the late afternoon of May 1, 2026, a chain of events began that would culminate in the tragic death of 29-year-old Ceicilia Valentina Corsetti. Known affectionately as "CeCe" to her loved ones, Ceicilia was a vibrant and compassionate soul, born on March 20, 1997, and raised in Vallejo, California. She was known for her artistic talents, her intelligence, and a selfless nature that made those around her feel cherished and accepted.
In the days leading up to her death, Ceicilia had been pursuing new goals, enrolling in classes to further her passion for music. Her family remembered her as a source of strength and support, a young woman with a bright future and a deep love for her family and friends. The bond she shared with her mother, Melinda Drymon, was described as unbreakable, a testament to their close relationship.
The circumstances surrounding Ceicilia's death were initially shrouded in mystery. On that Friday evening, at approximately 5:35 p.m., a woman suffering from at least one gunshot wound was dropped off at a local hospital by an unknown individual who quickly departed the scene before they could be identified or questioned. Medical staff worked to save her, but her injuries were too severe, and she was pronounced dead a short time later. The Vallejo Police Department was notified and immediately launched a homicide investigation, marking the city's third homicide of the year. For a time, the victim's identity was withheld pending notification of her family. As the investigation progressed, it was revealed that the shooting had taken place on the 600 block of Indiana Street. Following the shooting, a friend of Ceicilia's had rushed her to the hospital in a desperate attempt to save her life.
The investigation into Ceicilia's death moved forward, and detectives soon identified a prime suspect: Roberto Alfonso Tamayo-Cazarez. On May 6, 2026, after presenting their case to the Solano County District Attorney's Office, an arrest warrant was issued for Tamayo-Cazarez. Before he could be apprehended, however, he was allegedly involved in another shooting on May 19, which left a man injured. This second incident intensified the manhunt, and in the early hours of the following day, with the assistance of the California Highway Patrol Air Unit, officers located Tamayo-Cazarez driving in Vallejo. A pursuit ensued, which ended when officers successfully punctured the tires of his vehicle. Tamayo-Cazarez attempted to flee on foot, hiding in a residential neighborhood, but he was soon found and taken into custody. He was subsequently booked into the Solano County Jail on multiple charges, including murder, firearm violations, and evading officers. The case against Roberto Alfonso Tamayo-Cazarez is now pending in the legal system, with the family of Ceicilia Corsetti awaiting justice for her untimely death.
