A promising future was cut tragically short on May 2, 2026, when 19-year-old Antoine Myers of Georgia was fatally shot in Port Saint Lucie, Florida. The incident, which also left his 19-year-old companion, Jermonti Johnson, wounded, unfolded in the midst of what authorities described as a pre-arranged cellphone transaction that took a violent turn. Myers, who sustained a gunshot wound to the head, succumbed to his injuries, leaving a community in shock and a family grappling with a sudden and senseless loss.
The events leading to the fatal encounter began at a Walmart in Fort Pierce, where Myers and Johnson had arranged to meet with individuals they had contacted to purchase and activate cellphones. This business transaction, however, was allegedly a pretense for a robbery. The group later moved to the Town Center at St. Lucie West, and it was there, inside a white Tesla, that the situation escalated. Gunfire erupted, leaving Myers in grave condition and Johnson with a gunshot wound to the abdomen. While Johnson was expected to recover, Myers' injuries proved to be fatal.
The Port St. Lucie Police Department launched an immediate and intensive investigation, working through the night to identify those responsible. Their efforts quickly led to the identification of three suspects. Within 24 hours of the shooting, two individuals were in custody: 18-year-old Sharlett Nylav Key of Port St. Lucie, identified as the driver, and 19-year-old Martravious Aaron Blue, Jr. of Fort Pierce. Key faced charges of robbery with a firearm, obstruction of justice, and accessory after the fact to attempted murder, while Blue was charged with attempted second-degree murder, robbery with a firearm, and grand theft. The alleged shooter, 18-year-old Norrien Casminski of Fort Pierce, remained at large, prompting a 72-hour manhunt involving multiple law enforcement agencies, including the U.S. Marshals Service. Considered armed and dangerous, Casminski's eventual apprehension brought a close to the initial phase of the investigation. The case then moved to the judicial system to determine the legal consequences for the three individuals connected to the untimely death of Antoine Myers.
