On the evening of March 31, 2026, which was also his 43rd birthday, Garreth Antonio Parks Jr. was shot and killed in Baltimore, Maryland. The incident occurred at approximately 10:18 p.m. in a parking lot in the 3700 block of West Belvedere Avenue. When police officers arrived at the scene, they found Garreth Parks Jr. in his vehicle with a gunshot wound to his neck. His girlfriend was present and applying pressure to the wound.
Parks was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
According to the girlfriend's statement to the police, she and Parks had been in the parking lot when he got out to speak with a friend. After he returned to his car, another vehicle, driven by his estranged wife, Rene Parks, pulled up alongside them. The girlfriend reported that Rene Parks fired a single shot from a purple handgun, striking her estranged husband in the neck before fleeing the scene.
Following the shooting, homicide detectives identified the incident as a domestic-related dispute. The day after the shooting, on April 1, 2026, police arrested 49-year-old Rene Parks at her home in Baltimore County. She was subsequently taken to the Central Booking Intake Facility. Rene Parks has been charged with first and second-degree murder, assault, and various handgun violations.
