In the late summer of 1989, a grim discovery was made along the Allegheny River in the town of Allegany, New York. The body of 29-year-old Deanna Sue “Sonny” Willener was found on August 17 in an advanced state of decomposition. An investigation determined that she had died from a gunshot wound to the head, and her death was ruled a homicide. At the time of her death, Willener was a resident of Akron, Ohio.
