On a late summer evening in Tonawanda, New York, the life of 36-year-old Kristina C. Perez was tragically cut short. On August 28, 2022, inside an apartment on Parker Boulevard, Perez and another individual, 51-year-old Antoyn Williams, were shot and killed. A third person, a 56-year-old male, was also shot during the incident but survived his injuries.
Kristina, a mother of two daughters, was known for her caring nature, having worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant.
She was remembered by her family as a fun-loving person who had overcome personal struggles and was looking forward to a bright future with her loved ones. In the year prior to her death, she had achieved sobriety and was actively making amends and reconnecting with her family. Her untimely death left her family and friends devastated.
The investigation into the triple shooting led authorities to 18-year-old Jameer M. Woods of Buffalo. The motive for the violent attack was determined to be a disagreement over property belonging to Woods's mother, who was the ex-girlfriend of Antoyn Williams. Woods admitted to using illegal handguns to carry out the shootings.
In May 2024, Jameer M. Woods pleaded guilty to two counts of second-degree murder, one count of attempted murder in the second degree, one count of assault in the first degree, and one count of criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree. By pleading guilty to all charges in the indictment, he avoided a trial. Subsequently, the 20-year-old was sentenced to a term of 35 years to life in prison for his role in the deaths of Kristina Perez and Antoyn Williams, and the wounding of the third victim.
