Justin Charles Cline, a 31-year-old Black male from San Antonio, Texas, was killed in the early morning hours of April 1, 2026, in what police described as a targeted attack on the city’s East Side. The shooting happened just after 1 a.m. in the 1500 block of Center Street, between North Walters and North Gevers streets, after San Antonio police were called to the area for reports of gunfire.
When officers arrived, they found Cline suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
He had been struck several times in both the upper and lower parts of his body and was pronounced dead at the scene. The Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office later identified him and determined that he died from multiple gunshot wounds. His death was ruled a homicide.
Investigators said the shooting appeared to have been a drive-by-style attack, but the amount of gunfire suggested something far more deliberate than a random burst of violence. Police said at least 80 rounds were fired during the attack, turning the quiet stretch of Center Street into a crime scene littered with shell casings. Witnesses reported hearing the barrage of gunfire and seeing a black sedan leaving the area afterward. The gunfire did not strike only Cline; bullets also hit two nearby homes and a vehicle, leaving neighbors shaken by the intensity of the attack.
