On May 26, 2014, Roland Moreno, 38, was found dead as a result of a violent crime in San Antonio, Texas. Moreno's death was part of a string of violent incidents that occurred within a short timeframe. The suspect, Charles Ray Hall, 28, went on a shooting spree that lasted over 24 hours, during which two people were killed and one other was wounded. Hall began his violent acts by fatally shooting Rogelio Ramos, 50, as he tried to run inside a Northeast Side convenience store.
Later that day, Hall went to the Alamo Terrace apartments on Victor Street and shot another victim, Lawrence Carroll, 67, as Carroll opened his door. This series of violent incidents caused widespread fear across the community.
Hall's shooting spree did not end there; after killing Carroll, Hall returned to the same apartment complex, creating further disturbances and proclaiming himself to be the shooter. He confronted a security guard, Angel Maldonado, and shot him multiple times, although Maldonado survived his injuries. Hall was eventually apprehended later that evening, and was charged with multiple counts, including murder.
The incidents involving Moreno and others highlighted a tragic period of senseless violence in San Antonio, leaving the community reeling. The shootings took place in public locations, contributing to heightened tensions and anxiety in the area. The apprehension of Hall brought some relief to residents, but the devastating consequences of his actions remained evident.
