Daesean Anthony Moctezuma Orland, an 18-year-old male from Clermont, Florida, was shot and killed in the early morning hours of April 18, 2026, during a large house party at a vacation rental home in Davenport. The shooting happened just after 1:00 a.m. at a residence on Sommerset Hills Drive, in a gated vacation community near the ChampionsGate area.
Deputies said the home had been rented as a Vrbo, and a large number of young people had gathered there before gunfire suddenly erupted.
When Osceola County deputies arrived, they found that three people had been shot. Daesean was taken to a hospital, where he later died from his injuries. Two other males were also wounded and hospitalized, but authorities said they were in stable condition and expected to recover. Witnesses described a chaotic scene, with people scattering as law enforcement arrived, and investigators said many partygoers left before deputies could speak with them.
Investigators later said Daesean was not believed to have been the intended target. Daesean’s death struck his family and school community especially hard. He was a night school student at East Ridge High School and was reportedly close to graduating. Loved ones described him as a respectful young man who brought light into the lives of people around him. After the shooting, Lake County Schools said grief counselors would be available for students and staff who needed support.
As of the latest available reports, no arrest had been announced in Daesean’s killing. Deputies said no suspect was in custody in the immediate aftermath of the shooting, and investigators continued searching for the shooter.
