In the early morning hours of Saturday, April 25, 2026, a gathering in the Liberty Pointe subdivision of Villa Rica, Georgia, turned tragic, ending the life of 31-year-old Falonzo Smith. Friends and family knew him as "CJ," a man who was reportedly a new father to a baby girl and was embracing his new role with joy.
The evening took a fatal turn when an argument broke out between Smith and another man at a get-together on Jada Lane.
The dispute escalated, culminating in a violent confrontation. Police were called to the residence at approximately 2:18 a.m. with reports of a person having been shot. Upon their arrival, they discovered Smith on the kitchen floor with multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities at the scene quickly identified a suspect, 32-year-old Jeffrey Glen Brownlee of Douglasville, who was taken into custody without incident. Several witnesses at the gathering reportedly saw the shooting occur. Brownlee has since been charged with malice murder in connection with Smith's death and is being held in the Douglas County Jail. An investigation into the shooting remains ongoing.
