On a crisp November evening in Buffalo, New York, 21-year-old Corey Green told his mother he was making a quick run for some ice cream and would be right back. Tragically, he would never return home. On November 12, 2007, at approximately 7:45 p.m., Corey was fatally shot outside of a former Dairy Queen located at 820 Walden Avenue. This male victim's death marked a devastating chapter in his family's life, as his mother had lost her older son to gun violence in Atlanta just ten months prior.
The investigation into Corey's murder has been met with significant challenges, leaving the case unsolved for over a decade. Law enforcement officials believe that another individual who was with Corey at the time of the shooting was the intended target. This person, however, has refused to cooperate with the police, hindering any significant progress in the investigation. Authorities have described Corey as collateral damage in an act of violence that was meant for someone else.
In the years following the tragic event, Corey's mother has become an advocate for victims of crime, joining an organization called Parents Encouraging Accountability and Closure for Everyone. She continues to seek justice for her son and fights for accountability in unsolved homicide cases. To this day, no arrests have been made, and no suspects have been publicly named in the death of Corey Green. A reward of up to $7,500 is being offered by Crime Stoppers WNY for any information that leads to the arrest or indictment of the individual or individuals responsible for his death.
