A dispute that began inside a Matthews, North Carolina bowling alley escalated to a fatal shooting in the parking lot, claiming the life of 43-year-old Travis Marcus Lock on Sunday, March 29, 2026. The incident occurred at the Lucky Strike on Brigman Road shortly before 1 a.m.
An argument between several individuals started inside the bowling alley and spilled out into the parking lot. During the altercation, Lock was shot.
When Matthews police officers arrived, they found Lock unconscious in the parking lot with a gunshot wound to the upper left torso. Officers administered life-saving measures until paramedics arrived, but Lock was pronounced dead at the scene.
The man suspected of shooting Lock fled the scene before police arrived. Later that day, 48-year-old Ray Jevon Teasley turned himself in to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department, where he admitted to shooting Lock and surrendered his firearm. Teasley told investigators he panicked and fled the scene. He was subsequently arrested and charged with voluntary manslaughter.
Family and friends described Travis Lock, known to many as "Big Trav," as a man with a personality that filled every room and who was the life of the party. His mother, Patricia Lock, remembered him as a joker who loved to smile and had turned his life around in recent years. He was a father and a loving son and brother. A GoFundMe campaign was created to assist his family with funeral and memorial expenses. Funeral services were scheduled for Wednesday, April 8, 2026, at Roseboro's Mortuary in Charlotte.
