In the early hours of April 1, 2026, a dispute in White Plains, Maryland, ended in the tragic death of 19-year-old Tyon Makai Bias. Just before 3 a.m., Charles County Sheriff's officers responded to reports of gunshots in the vicinity of Enid Blyton Place. Their investigation revealed that a group of people had been involved in an altercation that escalated to gunfire.
During the incident, Tyon Makai Bias was struck by the gunfire.
First responders transported him to a nearby hospital, but he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased. The shooting also resulted in several homes in the area being hit by bullets, though fortunately, no other injuries were reported.
In the wake of the shooting, law enforcement officials have been actively investigating the homicide and are searching for the person or persons responsible. Detectives are pursuing leads and have asked for the public's assistance. A significant cash reward of up to $10,000 has been offered for any information that leads to the arrest and indictment of a suspect in the case. As of now, the investigation is ongoing.
The family of Tyon Makai Bias, including his parents Eboni Jackson and Randy 'Tony' Bias, announced funeral services to be held in his memory. Visitations and a funeral service were scheduled to take place at the Way of the Cross Church of Christ in Capitol Heights, followed by a burial at the Fort Lincoln Funeral Home & Cemetery in Brentwood.
