Summary based on 3 sources
Mysun Unique Jones, a 20-year-old man from Enfield, North Carolina, was killed on April 1, 2026, in a burst of violence at a home on Liberty Street, a shooting that left another person wounded and sent shock through a small town already too familiar with grief. Public reports indicate the gunfire erupted shortly before 3 p.m. at 210 Liberty Street, where at least two people were shot. Jones died at the scene, and in the days that followed, funeral notices and memorial listings confirmed both his death and the sorrow that settled over Enfield as his family prepared to bury him.

What happened after the shooting unfolded almost like the next chapter of the same tragedy. Authorities broadcast a lookout for a red Kia Soul believed to be connected to the shooting, and Nash County deputies soon spotted a vehicle matching that description on Interstate 95. Investigators say the attempted stop turned into a chase that tore through the Goldrock community and into Rocky Mount at speeds topping 100 miles per hour before the vehicle crashed near Goldrock Road and Homestead Road. The two men inside ran, but deputies tracked them down separately, finding the driver, Clarence Dominique Atkins Jr., hiding under a mobile home and the passenger, Marion Randolph Hodge III, in the attic of an abandoned residence.

By April 3, reports citing arrest warrants and a State Bureau of Investigation statement said both Atkins and Hodge had been charged in Jones’s killing. Before the homicide charges were reported, Atkins was already facing charges tied to the chase and alleged drug possession, including felony fleeing to elude arrest with a motor vehicle, while Hodge was reported to face charges including resisting, breaking and entering, and injury to real property. At the time of the latest public reporting I found, the case was still in its early stages, with authorities saying additional charges could be filed as the homicide investigation continued. I did not find credible public reporting yet of a trial, plea, or conviction in Jones’s death.
