Lamont Eugene Solomon, a 49-year-old male of African American ethnicity from Enfield, NC, tragically passed away on April 28, 2021. He was fatally shot in the abdomen area and was transported to a trauma unit, where he succumbed to his injuries. The incident occurred in the early hours of the morning in the 700 block of Low Ground Road in Enfield.
Following the shooting, Allen Lee Burnette, a 67-year-old male from Enfield, was arrested and charged with murder.
Burnette was taken into custody without the opportunity for bond and was held in the Halifax County Detention Center with a court date set for May 19, 2021. The motive behind the shooting remains undetermined.
The Halifax County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene and conducted an investigation into the circumstances surrounding Solomon's death. The case drew significant attention from local law enforcement and the community, as efforts were made to understand the events leading up to the tragic incident.
The Solomon family, deeply affected by the loss, organized a Farewell Celebration to honor Lamont's memory. The event took place on May 8, 2021, at the Chapel of S. Jones Funerals and Cremations, followed by interment at the Enfield Memorial Cemetery.
