Nineteen-year-old Daquon Marrow was arrested and charged with murder. Marrow was held in Halifax County Jail without bond, with his first court appearance scheduled for July 22, 2015. Twenty-one-year-old Tanika Arrington was charged with obstruction of justice for allegedly covering up and hiding evidence from deputies. Arrington, who was released on a $10,000 bond, had her first court appearance on August 26, 2015. The third suspect, Dexter Taylor, 22, was charged with an open count of murder. Taylor remained at large and was considered armed and extremely dangerous.
In a related development, Matthew Lewis Simms, 25, was arrested in November 2015 in connection with the shooting death of Jarshamel Jaleek Cambridge. Simms was initially released after posting bond but failed to appear for a court date on June 12, 2015. He was later apprehended on September 7, 2015. Investigators linked Simms to a quadruple homicide that occurred in August 2017, further complicating the case.
