In the quiet high desert city of Adelanto, California, the night of April 1, 2026, was shattered by the sound of gunfire, leaving two men dead in what authorities believe are related incidents. One of the victims was 33-year-old Elias Alonso, a resident of the city.
Around 9:05 p.m., deputies from the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department were called to the 11700 block of Chamberlaine Way after multiple reports of shots fired. There, they discovered Angelo Chaparro, 18, suffering from several gunshot wounds. He was rushed to a nearby hospital but ultimately succumbed to his injuries.
At approximately the same time, another call for medical assistance led deputies to the 10400 block of Cimmeron Trail Drive. In the driveway of a residence, they found Elias Alonso, who had also been shot. Like Chaparro, Alonso was transported to a hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
The Sheriff's Specialized Investigations Division – Homicide Detail has taken over the investigation. Detectives are treating the two fatal shootings as a single case, believing them to be connected. As of now, the suspect or suspects responsible for the deaths of Elias Alonso and Angelo Chaparro remain at large.
