In the spring of 2026, the life of Jimmy Vincent Neve Jr., a 61-year-old man, was tragically cut short in Greensboro, North Carolina. On the morning of April 9th, officers responded to a call at the Homestead Lodge where they discovered Neve suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest. Despite the immediate life-saving efforts of the police and fire personnel who arrived at the scene, his injuries proved fatal, and he was pronounced dead.
This violent act marked the city's fifth homicide of the year.
The investigation into Neve's death quickly led to a suspect. Through evidence gathered at the scene and interviews with witnesses, homicide detectives identified 24-year-old La'Quan Deandre Nora as the alleged perpetrator. Later that same day, members of the Greensboro Police Department's Violent Criminal Apprehension Team and Violent Crime Reduction Team located Nora on Brighton Street and arrested him without incident.
Nora was subsequently charged with first-degree murder, felony breaking and entering to cause terror, and two counts of discharging a weapon into an occupied property. He was taken to the Guilford County Jail and is being held without bond. While the investigation is considered ongoing, authorities have stated that they are not actively seeking any other suspects in connection with the shooting.
Jimmy Neve, born on December 4, 1964, in Richmond, Virginia, was a father, grandfather, and brother. He had a long career as a truck driver and was remembered by his family for his love of electronics, shooting, and West Virginia Football. His family expressed their profound sadness at his sudden passing, remembering him as a cherished individual whose warmth and kindness touched many.
