In the early morning hours of Thursday, April 9, 2026, the quiet of a Gaithersburg, Maryland neighborhood was shattered by violence. Inside his home on the 12500 block of Carrington Hill Drive, 32-year-old Christopher Gove was found by first responders suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. The call reporting the shooting came in at approximately 5:55 a.m., and despite the life-saving efforts of Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service personnel, Gove was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The mystery surrounding Christopher Gove's death deepened shortly after he was discovered. His black Toyota Highlander was found unoccupied at the scene of a single-vehicle crash in the vicinity of West Montgomery Avenue and Darnestown Road. The discovery of the abandoned and wrecked vehicle added another layer to the unfolding tragedy, leaving investigators to piece together the events that led to the fatal shooting. The Montgomery County Department of Police Major Crimes Division is leading the homicide investigation.

As of now, no suspect is in custody, and the investigation remains active and ongoing. Detectives are urging residents of the Willow Ridge neighborhood, as well as those near the crash site, to review any surveillance or doorbell camera footage from the early morning hours of that Thursday. They are particularly interested in any suspicious activity or footage of the black Toyota Highlander and any individuals who may have been seen entering or exiting it. Crime Solvers of Montgomery County is offering a reward of up to $10,000 for information that leads to an arrest.
