In the late evening hours of Wednesday, February 3, 2021, tragedy befell 19-year-old Tyshun Gary Jaheim Williams. The young man, a resident of Washington, D.C., was fatally shot in Gaithersburg, Maryland. His life was cut short by what the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner would later rule as a homicide by gunshot.
The following afternoon, on Thursday, February 4, at approximately 3:19 p.m., a person walking behind a business in the 15700 block of Shady Grove Road discovered
Williams's body and immediately contacted the Emergency Communications Center. Officers from the Montgomery County Police Department and Fire and Rescue personnel responded to the scene and found Williams deceased, having suffered trauma to his upper body. His body was then transported to the medical examiner's office in Baltimore for an autopsy.
Detectives from the Major Crimes Division launched a homicide investigation into Williams's death. They believe he was killed on the evening of February 3. In the months that followed, investigators worked to uncover leads in the case. By July 2021, the department announced that they had exhausted all available leads and were turning to the public for assistance.
Authorities urged anyone with information about the homicide to come forward and contact the Major Crimes Division. To encourage potential witnesses, Crime Solvers of Montgomery County offered a reward of up to $10,000 for any information that would lead to the arrest of a suspect or suspects. The investigation into the death of Tyshun Gary Jaheim Williams remains ongoing, with no arrests having been made and no suspects publicly identified.
