On the evening of Saturday, April 11, 2026, a burst of violence shattered the ordinary atmosphere of a Chick-fil-A on Route 22 in Union, New Jersey, leaving one man dead and six others wounded. Malek Shepherd, a 23-year-old from New York City, was identified as the deceased victim in what authorities have described as a targeted attack. The shooting unfolded at approximately 9 p.m. when masked gunmen reportedly entered the restaurant, advanced behind the counter, and opened fire.
