In the early moments of October 9, 2009, the life of 17-year-old Edward Battles was tragically cut short in a burst of gunfire on the streets of Buffalo, New York. An African-American male, Battles was driving a Chevrolet in the city's Schiller Park neighborhood when he was struck by bullets shortly after midnight on Genesee Street. The shooting left him in critical condition, and he was rushed to Erie County Medical Center for urgent care.
