Justin Richard Boersma, a 45-year-old man from Gladstone, North Dakota, died on Thursday, February 12, 2026, following a shooting incident near an interstate exit to the east of Dickinson.
The Stark County Sheriff's Office reported that deputies were dispatched to the Interstate 94 Business Loop East at approximately 11:35 a.m. Upon their arrival, they discovered Boersma with a gunshot wound.
He was transported to a local hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.
Following the incident, authorities identified 47-year-old Mark Terry Clement of Dickinson as the suspect. When investigators attempted to detain Clement in Dickinson, a brief vehicle pursuit ensued. The chase concluded at the Dickinson Public Safety Center, where Clement was taken into custody in the parking lot.
On February 13, 2026, Mark Terry Clement was formally charged with the intentional or knowing murder of an adult victim. The investigation into the shooting is ongoing, with the Stark County Sheriff's Office, Dickinson Police Department, and the North Dakota Bureau of Criminal Investigation all involved in processing the crime scene and gathering information.
